??? Scratching head

The "alternative" offsets come from where and mean what?

They all have less offset than stock which would mean that you couldn't fit wider tires, or maybe even stock width tires, without rubbing.

All the offsets I have seen that actually work have mirrored or been more than stock (when you have wider rims). Lower offsets push the wheels out a little which leaves LESS room for tires.

And also, don't go by rated tire sizes, go by actual sizes. The 16" S02s were wider than their rated size as are a lot of tires. Unfortunately a lot of tires are narrower than their rated sizes. If a tire manufacturer doesn't give an actual width you can bet that their tires are smaller than rated.

I ran BFG KDs and the fronts were pretty near the same width as the S02s, but even when I went up 2 sizes on the rear they were nearly 1/2" narrower than the stock tires which gave me terminal oversteer.

Now I am running an 18" Porsche spec S02 on the front and an 18" BMW spec S02 on the rear. This combo gives me quite a bit more total rubber on the road and gives a ratio of front/rear rubber that is only slightly off from the stock ratio which means my car handles like stock except with higher limits.
