I would not expect changing rear end gears to cost much, but be sure you get a shop that really knows how to setup a differential correctly. A numerically larger ratio back there does not increase the torque produced by the engine, but it very definitely increases the torque where the tires meet the pavement. A pair of gears is, after all, nothing but a lever.
