exhaust recommendation
Ive been looking at al;ot of exhausts but i havent been able to find one i want.
Definately want dual pipe but my major concern is i do not want to sound anything like a ricer.
I know alot of yall will say if i dont want to sound ricer then why did you buy a honda (or maybe not). I bought the S2000 because its an excellent piece of engineering but have never been a fan of the sound coming out of civics and rsx's, etc.
Is there such an exhaust?

anything after market for Honda is rice. but for an s2000 is just more expensive rice. even oem is rice cause they dont do ****.

I disagree completely. How can oem be rice? just because it doesnt do anything doesnt make it rice.
actually i dont really care if the car is riced or not. I still enjoy looking at ricey cars. but OEM add ons for s2000 is a rip off and doesnt not work. what does a spoiler 2 inces high do?? and they cost like $500.
something that does not work and you put it on is consider rice to me.

Hey....
I am in the same predicament as you......
I have been researching for over 6 months.....
Its hard to decide....
Keep it stock?
Go with a full invidia (q300 w/ headers)
Comtech
And recently found T1r-em Dyno charts show a 14hp increase and 10lbs of torque increase?
Skunk2 exhaust
ASM dual 60's
Tanabe (quite exhaust)
the only problem is there are no dyno charts..
only for the skunk2 and the t1r.....
Uhhh?????
i talked to a guy at a autocross show.... he said... keep it stock!
learn how to drive the car.... then decide what you want to do...
he said to first thing is to get a sway bar, and some good tires....
he suggested Dunlop star tec's (dry)
I can drive....(learning) and i just want something to sound good....
i would also recomend a aem v2 intake.....

That makes NO sense... If that was the case we would all drive around in the same car, Cars are styled for peoples liking, Rice is putting a 2ft spoiler on a car that couldn't even reach speeds where it would do you any good. OEM weighs exhaust weighs a TON, getting ANY aftermarket exhaust will save you a good amount of weight
I saw an s2000 with all oem addon to it and i laugh. He thinks hes not rice just because he has oem parts but for about $600+ and noting on it works. thats rice.
Dont get me wrong. i got an OEM hardtop and OEM lip and i call my self a ricer cause i fell for that stuff. i learn my lesson and stop puting things that doesnt work on my car.

i dont know, you ask them. I rather have that 50/50 weight distribution for the better feeling driving but for racers they want less weight to go faster and get better MPG. Mayby they get the lighter exhaust but they also has carbon fiber hood and other mod to make the front end lighter to maintain that 50/50.
what part of the exhaust is the heaviest? looks to be like that back of it near the rear end is the heavist but i never took it out so i dont know. but lets say the exhaust weights 50 lbs. i would try to gut out 50 lbs in the front. but this car is made with purpose already and noting to gut out really so stock is pretty good alreay.
Well... If you do want to keep going, The mufflers would be the heaviest part of an exhaust. Now with that said you probably will loose 10-20lbs off an exhaust, say the mufflers are 10-15 Now taking 10-15lbs off the rear section of the car that is not 50/50 exactly but for argument sake we will say it is. Car weighs about 2800lbs thats 1,400lbs F 1,400R now if its 1400F and 1,385R this is going to change the cars handling? If you have a full tank of gas or a half tank would affect it more than changing your exhaust!
Im not againts Exhaust at all. I love the sound thats why i bring my car up to red everyday. I rather hear the engine screaming than a loud *** fart cannon that sounds the same at 2K RPM and 7K RPM.
But the OEM aero parts are not worth it and just for looks and rice.

Why do race cars and track car take out seats, door panels, floor mats, and just about every other piece of equipment that doesnt need to be used on the track? less weight=more speed and better handling.
Aero, if u don't like rice, why did you by the Honda. Everything you are saying has no point. If what you say is true that oem=rice, than every car ever made is rice when it comes out of the factory. My 2cents
Lol dont worry he said he "does like to look at rice" makes 100% sense
Alright...I might get tossed off this site for saying this - but that first Civic posted by RL actually looks pretty cool. I'd never drive it, but at least they did "rice" right! No cheap stuff there - it was probably a lot of work. The dude has at least some form of taste...not sure what though.
As for exhaust - I think stock might sound the best. But like others have said - it's heavy. And whatever you decide on, power increase will likely be minimal, even with a full setup from the headers back. So I'd think the key idea here is to look for the lightest exhaust that doesn't sound horrible. Good luck.

Hmmm....after watching that rather-excellent youtube video, I think I've changed my mind that stock might not be the best sounding. All of those exhaust systems sounded pretty awesome in my opinion. Nice job whoever made that!

Lol Jim im sure he would trade you the hatch for your S any day.. To each there own, I signed on my old computer and my background was a civic as crazy as that one. At one point I would have done anything for somthing like that... Now couldn't be paid to drive it.
I'm gonna get hell for this on a S2000 forum but oh well.. here we go, no offense but ALL of the exhaust on that video sound like **** to my ears, I know youtube etc... but I'm not talking sound quality I mean the sound of the engine out of these pipes sounds pretty bad and thin, nothing like my corvette's V8 for example with full exhaust and headers...now THAT"S a nice sound!!. I'm going to replace my Invedia on my S2000 because it sounds too loud but not pleasant to MY ears but hearing other exhaust, I think it's more an Engine thing then just exhaust.
I like the sound of Toyota, They are more deeper and meaner. espically the older mr2s and supra.
my mk1 is banging a stock exhaust but when its about 4K- 7.5K RPM,TVIS kicks in like Vtec and it screams. I love 4AGE.
the S2000 sound is a little more conservative.
