I'm totally with Scott bein' against the siphonin' through the dipstick hole idea. It leaves the oil that you most wanna get rid of still in the pan.
The way I read this is that you'd be riskin' engine damage so that some easy maintenance can be avoided.
If it becomes that much of an uncherished chore, take it down to the guys at (shudder) Jiffy-Lube r' somethin'. Even that's better than leavin' a portion of your old oil in the pan each time you "change" your oil by siphonin'.
You might wanna try n' talk your buddy out'a his evil ways too BJ. Down the line he's gonna thank you for it.
It's not that hard a chore n' it gives you a chance to eyeball the underside.
