You can get significant torque gains with turbocharging. You can get the sense of better torque by switching the final drive gear.

However, as has been posted endless times on various S2K forums, buying an S and being disappointed with the torque is like buying a sportbike and being disappointed with the torque. Or buying a Powerstroke V10 diesel and being disappointed that it doesn't redline at 12,000rpm This car, by design not by accident, is meant to drive like a grocery getter around town, and like a formula 1 car as long as you keep the revs over 6000 at shifts.
