Aaay Snafu, owyadoon?
Mcguiers r' Mothers plastic polish will take the surface roughness down to a smooth finish, but, I'm guessin' an '01 window would more be a candidate for replacement.
McGuiers r' Mother's'll run ya what? Maybe 15 bucks American? I don't even wanna think what a rear window replacement's gonna go for (n' then if you do opt for the window replacement you've godda take into consideration that the top's as old as the window. Deep-sixin' n' replacin' the whole kit n' caboodle might be the way to go, but you godda get up close n' personal with it n' make your decision). So givin' the plastic polish a shot might buy you some time.
Keep us posted how you chose to go n' how you make out. Face it, not too far down the line there's gonna be others askin' the same questions.
Be well n' good luck.
