I had to drive the highways of the SF bay area for 8 years and learned something real quick (well not quick enough to avoid replacing 2 windshields). This may sound kinda stupid, but I've found the best way to avoid being blasted is to back off a little or change lanes if you can. It really does help a lot.

I live in a cornfield now so it's not a big problem, but I'm going with Dr. J's recommendation of that 3M clear stuff.
