Well Rock, the used car lots use'ta use a turpentine/carwash mix ta get a quick shine on their wares n' dazzle the marks ou'da their hard-earned, but it wuz short-lived n' hadda be done on an almost daily basis.

Go to a Honda motorcycle dealer and buy a bottle of Honda Gloss. This puts the best shine I've found yet and it lasts for quite a while.

I have been really impressed with Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax. It is really easy to work with, polishes off easily and doesn't leave your car covered in little white flakes (so annoying). It also seems to last a long time. You can buy it online or at a local auto supply place like Pep Boys.

I use Meguiars deep crystal system. Its the best shine I have seen but it takes a while to apply because it is a 3 step process. Theres a prewax, polish, and caranuaba wax. Looks real good

Being from the "old" school I like to use good old paste wax such as Mothers 3 step, there is also a quick detailing spray which still has to be buffed off. I had a friend who sells cars, he told me they use furniture polish for the cars in the showroom

Like Java said, elbow grease....http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main...products_id=32

I personally prefer any synthetic polymer wax over a carnuba (spell check) any day.....NXT Tech Wax is what I'm using now. Only because carnuba is basically a fancy word for tree sap.

I like Meguiar's NXT and Gold Class, great shine, but doesn't last more than a couple of weeks. Both have a very mild chemical cleaner in the formula which helps too.

When I want a great shine that really lasts use the Meguiar Tech Yellow Wax, has a lot of carnuba, has not cleaners so the car has to be spotless.

Prefer to us the Porter-Cable, but the waxes work well by hand too.

These days liquid polish works better than wax. Black Magic leaves a hard shine. Most bugs scrape off with your fingernail. A little more work than paste.

follow these steps. for beginers- meguiars 3 step is good enough and you will see a difference.

1- claybar the car
2- polish using a buffer- not by hand
3-wash
4-wax
5 wash
6 buff the headlights with PlasticX or another plastic polish

I have better things to do with my time. I'm quite happy with Black .Magic. At one time I sold a wax called "Custom 500". All you had to do was demo it and it would sell. No better than any other over time. At least Consumers did a comparison. I think Zaino finished somewhere in the middle of the pack.

I dunno folks... No disrespect, but I'm pretty sure you're all missin' the boat here! I just opened up this month's Motor Trend, and sure enough there's a big whoppin' ad for Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax... and it brazenly touts "Hydrophobic Polymer Technology".. yes that's what I said "Hydrophobic"..which clearly indicates to me that the polish is actually AFRAID of water... or that the water is afraid of the polish... or that this polish will make the user afraid of water... Well, regardless... it certainly indicates that someone is obsessively afraid of something, and that is enough for me to want to own it bigtime!

"Hydrophobic Polymer Technology"..

Somebody in their marketing department thinks that if they make it sound very technical people will think it's good stuff. That person needs to read a dictionary.

Haven't waxed my car in a few months. Hasn't been washed in a few weeks. Here's what it looks like and it's 6 years old. I put 303 on the plastic light covers. No time and energy consuming routine. Just 1 coat of polish.

Phil, looks kinda splotchy on the driver's side front and you have 2 big scratches across the hood and onto the passenger fender.

It's what you get when you reflect on the last time you had a date.

Also has a political connotation, but we won't go there.

Doubt you could get much more shine on a light, old paint job like that.

The best shine is produced in this order:
1.wash the car
2. clay bar
3.apply sealant.
4.apply carnuba wax.
