If anyone could drive it, I wouldn't wannitt n' would be lookin' for somethin' else that required skill n' attentiveness to drive.
What draws us (okay . . . what draws me) to Stewie is it's cuttin' edge handlin'. Ma Honda didn't get that handlin' by manufacturin' yet another transportation pram. Makin' use of the edge (without plantin' you n' your shiny new ride in the landscape) cannot be accomplished without the aforementioned skill and attentiveness. The attentiveness is a no brainer, but the skill requires familiarization n' practice in large, regularly applied doses.
N' get this: ain't none of it gonna be got on a website.
It's gonna be gained by jumpin' in'a driver'z seat n' goin' out in the dry n' learnin' where your, n' Stewie'z limits are.
It's gonna be gained by goin' out in the rain n' doin' the same thing. Each outin'll get you more experience n' closer to your personal edge.
But to go out thinkin' tha'cher gonna jus' jump innitt n' drive it like you drove some lesser vehicle?

Frankly, get to know your car a little better before taking it to the limit in the rain. Keep in mind in the rain tread her like a lady and she will return the favor.
Ohhh btw, what does VPS mean....My '03 does not have it and it is not necessary......

Ice seemin'ly gives'ya a kick in the butt ta increase yer speed, snips your control cables n' kicks back n' has a cigarette while it laughs at your frantic, hopeless efforts.
N' maybe crawlin' slowly across it 4 wheel drive might make a difference. But jumpin' onto a good sized patch of it at speed? 4 wheel drive ain't gonna dooya diddly.
It all comes back to what Phil said: smooth.
Smooth'll get you the best G's in your favorite turn, but more importantly, smooth'll likely save yer bacon when things get downright slippery, bleak n' ugly.
Upset yer vehicle's attitude at the point-of-entry n' you're more'n likely gonna instigate a spin. You'll go laser-straight, but yer ridin' on pure luck. (Religion wuz born of such situations.)
Get on the ice without doin' anythin' to upset the vehicle's attitude n' you'll likely stay pointed in the right direction so that when you run oud'a ice you can hopefully regain traction in enough time to correct course 'r, at least aim for the least painful outcome.
It's all about the S word guys.

Went back of XMas to my home country (Germany) and had the chance to drive a S2000 (02) into the Swiss Alps. With winter tires and and little restraint it is a great experience. As I said restraint....

You don't really want to drive this car in the rain. the combination of vtec and low weight makes for a dangerous situation. I would avoid bad weather at all cost. Besides, what fun is the S with the top up?

Some of the most fun I had was romping across Indiana on the turnpike at speed (let's just say they were a bit over legal) in a pouring rain storm. The car handles just like it's supposed to...running Goodyear F1-DS3's which are one fine tire wet or dry. If you have the experience, it's no more dangerous than driving on dry pavement. (and the idiots who don't know how to drive or hog the left lane also don't care if it's wet or dry...they're still idiots)

I learned more about the car and my driving habits driving at Laguna Seca in the rain than all of previous years together. It is amazing what you can do with the car no matter what the conditions are. Learning to handle the car in the wet makes you a better driver, something we should all want to do.
Reminds me a little of my old Porsche 356's. Rear engine +swing axles =knowing the car and staying on the road. Kinda like throwing a dart backwards.

When ya come right down to it, drivin' in perfect conditions don't take a whole hell'uv'a lodda skill beyond turnin' the key, pushin' the big red button n' keepin' it on the pavement.

This monkey loves driving in the rain, especially since it's so rare here. Got 0.83" this weekend, awesome by our standards... Had to drive with the top up, though. I LOVE driving with the top down in rain, but of course it has to be at freeway speed and that's kinda rare since when it rains here "freeway speed" is barely above parking lot speed. A joy when it happens, though, usually in the first half hour of a storm before everyone realizes that shiny stuff on the road is water and freaks out...
'Z'I see it, the lessened traction'a the rain allow'z ya ta learn the stuff that you'd only learn at much higher speed'z in'a dry.
N' it keeps comin' full circle back ta what Phil said: it's all about smooth.
I will admit that it does require the settin' on your sensitivity **** (I feed you guys damned good stuff ta work with, don't I?) ta be turned full max so that any input is noted n', if necessary, acted upon as soon as possible. But it's all about the "S"word.

I don't wanna drive it in the rain, my choice would be blue sky and sunshine as well. However, I don't think the S is that extreme that you cannot drive it as a everyday driver, what in most parts or the US and other countries, includes rain.
Personally I don't like it because it takes me way to long to get "her" clean again, but I've never looked at the S as a "set it aside in the garage for when the weather is just right" car.
I also believe there are other rear wheel cars that are much much worse in the rain.
The point I was trying to make is the Stewie is a good, reliable everyday driver that has to be handled with restraint when driven in the rain. Wouldn't go track racing with a jacked up Hummer and expect to compete against the Supras and other cars.....

I've heard all and agree with all. As Java has said in the past (though I am in no way quoting, obviously) the best performance increase is getting behind the wheel and driving her. Today I found myself going sideways on an offramp (mayhap I should have had both hands on the wheel...) a bit of smooth response brought her squarely back in line, though.
The onlookers were a little scared and seemed to be waiting for the crunch...
Stewie is a little wobbly when you go too fast but my my my do things pick right back up where they left off when you pushed too far. I love this ride.

For sure, Stewie has her moments. The other day we were sort of chase n' a NSX on the service road of the I 495. Mr NSX did a quick 90 degree turn under an overpass. Me and Stewie followed. Stewie did a nice little tail wag which sure did get Mrs. Pablo's attention...........lol I'm gettin' used to it.
The ambient temp was about 40 degrees but tires were pretty warm since I had just driven about 15 miles. But, we had just gone through a puddle. The situation was easily corrected by steering.

Truly phenomenal in the rain at speed.
You might want to consider installing a new LSD. It should offer a greater amount of handling capability in the rain and help to stabilize your car.
