I think I found yer problem though, you said it yourself:
"I've been starin' at my car way too much".
There'z them whut likes'ta park Stewie n' then place a lawn chair at a particularly advantageous position for viewin' the car. That kind'a thing can have you forgettin' whut Stewie'z all about n' have you overly concerned with how it looks.
Or ya can spend yer time lookin' additt from the cockpit while you n' Stewie're becomin' one (it'z a zen thing).
Some'a the changes that may look like they need fixin' from the lawn chair, will take away from Stewie'z ability to perform as well as it does.
I'm not sayin' don't change nothin', but I am sayin' be aware that the changes offered up on the altar'z'a the groovy gods'a looks ain't gonna necessarily make ya happy the next time you go out to carve those chicanes, 'r jus' drive it on the uneven pavement'a normal roads.
