You're right Neil. The S2000 is a very rare car here. Brand new it costs around 62,000 euro. (about $90000 US) As a result anyone buying a car of that value always goes for the better brand name (badge snobbery), i.e. BMW, Porsche etc.

Another problem for the S now here is there has been a change in the vehicle taxation system. Car tax here will be based on car CO2 emissions from July 2008 and the S falls into the highest category ($2934 road tax per annum) and a vehicle registration tax on this car when bought new goes up from 30% to 36% thus making it more expensive to buy (making the car new cost over $94000).
I'd put money on it that there'll be no new S2000's sold in Ireland in 2008 or ever again.

I guess it's RIP for the S in Ireland.
