In mid MY2002, the banjo bolts that feed oil to the underside of each cylinder were changed from a 2 hole to a 4 hole design. Apparently, there were some failures of cars in the European market from MY00 and MY01. Honda actually had a recall and retrofitted all the MY00 and 01 cars in Europe with the 4 hole bolts but had no such recall in the US.

From what I recall, Honda's stand on this was that the failures were from continuous operation at high RPMs (for example cruising at 130 on the Autobahn for an hour straight) so there was no need to retrofit US cars. Nevertheless, the switched to the 4 hole bolts in 02 for USDM anyway.

I think the jury is still out on whether they make a difference. Search www.s2ki.com forums for "oil jet bolts" and you will find dozens of threads and tons of opinions.

I'm SC'd and have the bolts for my 01... sitting on my work bench LOL. Haven't had time to put them in yet
