A turbo definitely has more potential if you are willing to run tons of boost (20-30 psi or more ). However, to do that, you don't simply bolt the turbo to your car and hit the start button. So, money is no object, fastest S2000 out there... yes turbo. A standard bolt on SC only makes 5-6 psi of boost, can't compete with 20-30 psi. But, the SC does that with stock internals, and compression ratio.

How much are you willing to spend I guess is really the ?

All S2000 are convertible. You can buy an OEM or aftermarket hardtop though. That's one of the real appeals of this car. It isn't an afterthought convertibe with all the added weight and loss in structural rigidity. It is single purpose built: roadster.
