NASCAR is very American, like baseball. The concept is pretty boring, the implementation is anything but... I can't explain well except that the people I've talked into watching a few races all got hooked. It's not just driving in circles, it's the strategy of how to do so, with 43 teams at a time, limited fuel resources, picking the timing to change tires, dealing with changing weather conditions (temperature changes like sundown can massively change how the car sticks to the road), track conditions, crashes, speed limits while pitting, deciding whether to take fuel only / 2 tires / 4 tires, and the all-important adjustments to car handling - where something as subtle as a half pound of air in one tire can make the difference in whether or not you can take the turns faster than everyone else. The more you see how complex it is, the more interesting it gets...

By the way, Denny Hamlin ("my" driver) won another last weekend for Toyota.
