Definitely try the paintless removal places. They are usually pretty good about telling you what they can't handle and won't try it if they can't. Of course, you want to discuss this with them beforehand.
As far as whether to fix it or not. If, every time you walk up to your car you see the dent and it bothers you... or as you're driving it you can't get the dent out of your mind... get it fixed. You won't regret it. When dealing with body shops, it might be worthwhile to tell them you're not filing a claim, but it's coming out of your pocket AND you can pay cash. They seem to like cash, go figure.
