My first autocross
My first autocross
Today started out really nice, sunny out a little windy, got up early so i could get my girl ready for her big day...at the meet there were lots of miatas and corvettes, a few other Hondas i but i was the lone S2000, so i had to represent, being my first autocross i was a little worried about wrecking my car, but watching the others race around the course i soon felt very comfortable and was eager to see what stewie could do.... IT WAS A BLAST!!!!.... I am hooked, it took me a few runs the feel her out, but with each run i was shaving time off the watch...the fastest time was a vette who ran a 28.23 second lap, my best was 32.25, not bad for a newbee with street tires on... i will try and post a few videos....
Good job representing the clan! I was going to come over there but the forecast said rain. They were wrong.
Do you know if they're running at Chanute AFB this year? There's no schedule for '08 on the Central Illinois SCCA website.

i believe it is the 17th and 18th of this month...i am going to make to the 17th but i have to leave for TN the next morning so i will not be there that day...here is the event hotline so you can call and have a schedule as well...217-398-6452...
no rain, but lots of cold wind, i am looking forward to the Chanute race, being on cement will be different the the asphalt we ran on today...
Nice videos.
I am VERY surprised they let you have a passenger hand hold the camera. That is a MAJOR no-no with the SCCA. If you are going to do it more often, I would suggest a camera mount and back the lens out. You were zoomed in to far to really be any help to examining the lines you were taking. If you want the video as a memento of you runs, then it's fine.
On a course where you do little to no shifting, get in the habit of driving with two feet. It saves a little time (very little, but you will find ANY time saved on an autoX course becomes valuable) when you can brake with the left and use the right for the accelerator.
Keep at it and you will get better and faster. AutoX is the cheapest legal racing you can do.

That's cool that your mom was with you 440....
My mom's a Honda believer, and was the first person to demand a ride in Stewie when I purchased it......Funny, she hasn't asked for another one.
Nor has Mrs. Jagg.....You know what? Nobody asks for a second ride...
hmmmmmm.
Regards,
Jagg

I'm in that boat, Jagg, so you're not the only one. My driving style is best described as "suicidal".
To 4406, that's pretty darn awesome. Congrats to doing something I've wanted to but can't carve out the time.

Believe me Java, when Go talks, i listen, and have used all that he has past on to me, he is a world of info that i hope to be able to tap into from time to time....
I could never get into auto-crossing for some reason. Never had a desire to speed around cones in a parking lot. I've always preferred race tracks. Auto-X will teach you good car control though. Keep at it and you'll be challenging those Vettes!
