I'm kinda losing my mind....

Hi everyone, just a newbie here saying hi with a little concern. I just picked up a 2002 s2000 about two months ago. To give you a little background, the car has 60k, I've dropped a K&N filter in it and put some mobil1 in. That's it. My issue is.... why the hell did a 92-96 prelude keep up with me to 120mph? I'm guessing he had an intake, possibly header, definately a free-flow exhaust, you know, the typical let's spend 3k dollars on 15 horsepower stuff. I've done some research and found that there is a 220hp type "S" VTEC that came in the later models (97-) but like I said this was a third gen prelude (92-96 200hp) and he held right on my bumper from approx. 60 to 120 miles per hour. What's going on? Either my s is slowing down in it's high miles, or that prelude somehow managed to get 40 horses from a few simple mods. I know he may have done a swap, but for 20 horses? Can someone shed some light?
