I know I'll probably be dragged out back and beaten for saying this, but here goes....
I like to use brake cleaner. It specificaly says on the can not to use it on paint, but I have been doing it for years and have yet to see one ill affect from it. It should be sprayed on a rag, not directly on the paint. Wipe off whatever it is you want to remove and follow up with a spray of glass cleaner/windex. It seems to work great on removing bugs, tar, paint (other than factory finish), adhesives. Make sure not to get it on any unpainted plastic or vinyl because it will hurt that stuff. The claybar also works well too. I used to get fallout specs all over my hood, trunk, bumpers on my previous car and it took it right off. I did see some lines/fine scratches when using it though.
