I once had an old shoebox Chevy. It had a Corvette motor and a really nasty sounding set of pipes. It idled very erratically but only because a few lobes were worn off the camshaft. Truth be told, that motor was shot from abuse at the dragstrip and it didn't make the power of the Briggs & Stratton on my lawnmower.
I NEVER raced anybody with that car on the street and because of that, rumors at the saturday night burger joint claimed it was unbeatable. I did accept a couple of challenges but the other guys backed down when I said I would only race for titles. Boy am I glad, I had to drive that piece of junk to work every day and didn't want to lose it.
If you don't race, you always leave the other guy wondering.
