being a former bimmer person I have to question the 3.0 with an M on it...the M version of the Z3 is a whole different manchine...3.2 liters and no numbers on the back. also there will always be the funny chrome horizontal bar in the side scoops on the fender just in front of the door, the fenders are also flared out much wider than the stock Z3 and there is a whole mess of other little details that seperate the two. as far as racing a true M....well it tests out a bit better in the 0-60 and the quarter, not much but better still, and if you get lucky the driver will err a bit and that would be all it takes. and I should also make note that there are many M posers out there...I have seen the M placed on the oddest cars, and it really is a sad thing to see somebody sporting the M on a four cylinder Z3 with an automatic...but even funnier when you see the legendary M on a Daewoo complete with all the other BMW emblems...

Acceleration 0 - 1,000 m (in s) 23.7
Acceleration 80 - 120 km/h in 4th/5th gear (in s) 5.0/6.5

not to be taken lightly....and I double checked.....no M Roadster with a 3.0
of course I chose the S2000 for the purity of it, and Hondas much better reliability vs repair costs. I have not driven any S2000 yet as I won't be taking delivery until sunday, but I have driven the 2001 M Roadster that my brother owned, and he has driven both, while he does assure me that the M is faster, he also clearly indicates that the S2000 will never dissapoint me and due to its rev happy nature will actually be more thrilling to drive. considering I am coming from a very expensive and spirited 320is I am used to driving at 3500+ rpms, just imagine a 1.8 liter four cylinder with an 89mm bore and a 71mm stroke, wild camshaft and 162 ft lbs @ 5000 rpms and 193 hp @ 7500 all through dual sidedrafts, even worse is the 4.11 limited slip with a close ratio five speed and no overdrive, on tiny 195/50-15 rubber.
