I noticed that I have been getting paint chips from the road debris in the front of my hood and bumber. Is this a common problem or am I alone in this. My friend tells me that in order for Japanese auto makers to get tax credits on their imports, they use a water based EPA-ok paint that is not as durable as American automanufactures paint.

I am about to paint the entire hood and bumper and put a clear bra to fix it...just wanted to make sure Iam not wasting my money....
