San Diego Road Search 11/1/08

Morgan has emailed me a Google map to check out Black Canyon Rd and there is another called Angel Mountain Rd close to it. I think we are going to go driving Saturday morning to find some new roads to conquer.

The last time we did this, we found Couser Canyon which has turned into my favorite.

We are looking to get together Saturday, 11/1/08, at 7 AM at Deer Springs Rd. We'll do the normal run ending in Julian for breakfast and check these 2 roads out while on the drive. John/Aaron...you guys in??

Here's the Google map link:

When you click on satellite, it kinda looks like a dirt road. I guess we'll find out for sure Saturday.

I had a feeling it wasn't paved all the way through. It's hard to see on the satellite picture, especially if it is a narrow road.

Sorry guys I will not be able to make it DAMN! I am having new tires put on the 05S2k at 8:00 am. However, if you want to hook up at Keyways Winery in Temecula around 11:00 give me a shout. I am going to see Jackie Foreman there and I hear she is amazing. Its free so what the hell! Let me know and be safe.

Well, the 2 roads we went to look at were dirt roads. The search continues.

I did have not one but 2 deer run out in front of me today on Palomar East Grade Rd. I saw the one standing on the shoulder and I put my arm in the air to let Morgan know to slow down. He dashed across in front of me and hurdled up the embankment on the left. Then just as I put my foot on the gas, another came up onto the shoulder and ran in front of me. I had to hit my brakes hard for that one.

Later, on Mesa Grande, I saw something walking on the oncoming shoulder. Closer I got revealed it was a cow, then I came around a turn and there were 2 more on the shoulder in the grass under a tree. Wasn't the first time I had seen them in this spot.

BTW...my video turned out awesome, but my laptop has problems in the transfer. The first 8 seconds is nothing but sound, then the video kicks in and it is jumpy. Viewing on the camera is fine. I have to see if I can do it on my desktop instead.

Vinny,
My Uncle and I went up to Julian for breakfast on Sunday Nov. 2nd. About 20 miles from Julian was a 'DOE', who some unlucky individual nailed. Someone dragged the dead deer to the shoulder. Wonder if it was the same one?

Video from last weekend. The video is about 7 seconds behind the audio. I can't figure out why.
