Gas guage bounces all over the place, need help/advice!
I am getting misreads all the time, I might fill up the tank and it reads 1/4 full or I may have half a tank and it reads empty (and I'm not on any hills, slants, etc.).
Anybody else ever have this problem? Do we have a sending unit or could it be the float in the tank itself, all help greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Alex (it's a 2000 year model)

'First things I go to Alex: did it just start? Did it have an occasional problem that's over time gotten worse? Was any work (possibly something in the dash or console. I'm guessin' that the sendin' unit's connected through wirin' through the console, but that's just a guess) done right around, r' jus' prior to the time of it rearin' it's head.
I wonder if it could be somethin' as simple as a bad connection.

re: Gas guage
It's been doing this for a while now but 3 years ago the dealer replaced my entire dashboard (it had some bubbling from the factory -- a 40+ hour job at the dealer, entire steering column, heater and AC unit, both air bags, etc. had to come out) so it's possible this might have contributed to the problem. I was trying to narrow down if my gas guage problem was with the wiring or the sending unit.
Thanks for your reply -- where is the sending unit on our cars located by the way, do you happen to know?
