The two are so close, the arguments go back and forth all day long.
The Vortech supposedly makes a little more boost, comes with the aftercooler stock rather than as an add-on and requires drilling a hole in the oil pan for the oil return line. They are both centrifugal units so they don't produce any gain at low RPM... something that hasn't been lost on the S2000 community.
If I had the option, I would have gone with a positive displacement SC rather than the Comptech to give the car more low end. Comptech makes one for the NSX and TSX. However, last I checked the positive displacement blower is still not a reality for the S, although there were some threads on S2ki.com about various setups in development.
Now that I have the CT, do I regret it? No way. It was and still is worth every penny. In answer to the original post, nothing else needs to be done to the car internally to run either stock kit. Some things that are probably wise, however:
1. Dyno car after install and get a a/f ratio accross the rev range, make sure it's making boost etc.
2. One step colder plugs, word on the street is that the iridium ones are NOT a good idea with the SC as some folks have had problems
3. Highest octane fuel you can get
4. Keep up with your oil changes
5. For peace of mind, you could consider putting in a wideband A/F guage
If you decide to upgrade something in your drivetrain, keep in mind that you will create a NEW weak link.
