Guy's i've been looking at the front of my S recently thinking something has to go.... that black number plate surround....

So i took the number plate off and undid the 10mm bolts and it still didn't come off???? I pulled and noticed that it's fixed at either end but by what????

how can i get it off?? without braking the bumper???

 

can you post some pictures? it should come off pretty easily.

 

there is a bracket dead center behind the plate mount.

 

i have no pictures....

it's the actual black plastic 'thing'? that the number plate screws into... then once everything that i can actually undo is undone, it seems to be attached at either end? but i can't get it off, when i pulled it you could see the bumper plastic pulling too?!

i tried lifting it up, side to side etc but nothing and you can't get behind the bumper either.... i thought this would be an easy job!!

 

it is an easy job, there are like 3 bolts. lay on the ground and look behind the plastic... you will see what i am talking about.

 

ok i'll have a look but how do i actually get to them?? i've already undone the 2 bolts on the front!?

 

its very easy to get to dude, i did it in like 30 seconds when i first bought my car... just get under there and you should see it plain as day. i think you need a 10mm socket and maybe an extension

 

It has to be different... i've took the number plate off, and behind that there are two bolts (10mm) i've undone those and the thing doesn't budge.
when i've pulled it trying to see if it was just stuck on the bumper actually moves with it.

I've looked underneath and there are no extra bolts i've tried feeling behind but can't get there because of the bumper. are we defo talking about the same thing?

 

Referrin' to it as'a "number-plate" has me wonderin': are we talkin' Euro-version Stewie and does the Euro-version have a black surround for one'a those 3 foot (aplologiez: 1 meter) things that they use for license platez over there?

Try this: Bumper Pix. That should give you a picture of what you have to remove. One 10mm bolt, one push pin and you should be done.

 

He hasn't removed the support from the rear of the license plate holder. That's why he's having problems.

Is the car an AP2? I sure don't remember the AP1's being difficult to remove. I don't see why the AP2's would be either though.

It sounds like he hasn't removed the rear support for the plate holder. I gave him a link he can follow to a parts list that shows how the plate holder is installed.

okay, try www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and drill down to find the front bumper assembly. You'll see how the plate is held in place. (BTW, both the original link and the link you quoted in your message worked for me).
