From what I know of this car, mileage isn't too much of an issue. We tend to lean towards cars with the lowest mileage/dollar ratio, but (and guys, chime in any time), with a little TLC, and what Stewie owner doesn't treat his car this way, it can last for 300,000 miles. We tend to see used Stewies with low mileage because MOST owners don't use it as a daily driver, hence it's their "fun car" and used a few days/week.
As for which version to get, I have a 2002 (AP1) which I enjoy to the max. BUT, it does lack some of the niceties that the new models have that would lend themselves to enhancing the experience as a daily driver. Either one will give you the adrenalin pump you're looking for (driven "properly"), but if you're going to use it as a daily, my rec is to look hard at the newer models (you AND your date can put your Starbucks in a cupholder!). Either way, you'll be happy.
