Okay John, you already know about opinions, so here goes:
I had the opportunity to spend some time in a friends AP1 until said friend decided that I was abusing the friendship ( I thought that I'd entered "abusive" territory a month earlier) and refused to let me take it anymore. So, I went out, n' after samplin' an AP2, found one for myself. Except for a few occasions when we swapped to take notes I really haven't spent time in the AP1 again, so what I remember is kind'a dusty.
I can't really notice the minute difference in acceleration that, I believe, is mostly noted on paper. They both go quite well when you decide that you're serious about accelerating.
The handlin's where the big differences lie. I find the AP1 much less suspended than the AP2, to the point (n' you'll appreciate this) where an AP1 n' a rough road can have you spittin' chiclets (that's losin' teeth for the younger audience).
Remindin' you about opinions, I find that the AP2 will stick longer in a smooth corner, but when the back end finally reaches it's limit, it seems much more intent on racin' the front to the corner than does the AP1. (In a rough corner the suspension of the AP2 allows it to shine) I think that the AP1 is easier to bring back from an unintentional slide.
Now, add to all this that I'm talkin' 'bout, I think the AP1 that I used was a 2001, n' mine is a 2004. Dunno how much use that's gonna be in determinin' the handlin' on a 2007.
Hope that's been of some help John.
Be well.
