The front seat has enough room under it for a pretty big box of Kleenex. The seat will slide back and forth over it so I can only presume that you can fit a similar sized box there for all your "stuff".
My S has SOOO much more room for the little things than does my Miata - and there is simply no comparison in the trunk dept. That depression in the S is just the right size for a carry on bag which leaves the second level open for a couple of bigger suitcases.
