Well it certainly appears that we are at an impasse where democracy can be put to the test so I will address the comments in order:

lonestarbuzz “you should have every right to protect yourself and your belongings, but i would hope that you possessed the conscience and moral aptitude to not take another life because he wanted to take your Honda.”

To answer you lonestarbuzz… Thank you. I do have that right, even in California. I as well possess a “moral aptitude”. That said, I am willing to do what is ever required as a situation may dictate. The end result would rest entirely upon the behavior of the criminal perpetrator(s) involved once they were caught in the act and the choices THEY made in the moment.

Marrk “I agree with lonestarbuzz. This is childish. Come on, s2kx2, if you really feel that there is any connection between your statement and reality, then, by all means, go out and shoot a few people and come back and let us know how it went. Otherwise, please make it clear that you mean such statements in a humorous way.”

To answer you Marrk… With all respect Marrk, your comment is childish. To state “go out and shoot a few people and come back and let us know how it went” and not consider the context of the situation or the authors remarks (not mine by the way) points to a naiveté on your part. No offense meant my friend.

dezignpro04 “Nicely put Buzz. I agree. Besides you put your life in danger as well as your family. They could have a gun, or someone else could seek revenge. That's why we pay for car insurance.”

To answer you dezignpro04… True. That is the choice I make if the situation dictates. IF they are armed as well
that places me in an even more legal arena to defend myself as well as my belongings and loved ones. As far as someone seeking revenge goes … I will not live my life in fear of retribution from the criminal elements of society. As far as car insurance goes, I have it because it is mandated by law and unlike car thieves who view their habits as a “legitimate business” I obey the laws that require it. I have insurance to also ease the financial burden of the random events of driving day to day. Fender benders, accidents etc. Auto theft is not an “accident” it is a wanton criminal act that I have chosen to take additional steps to prevent from GPS tracking to alarm systems and staying proficient with my weapons at the target range.

philiam If you havn't seen Gran Torino, I recommend it. I think it kind of fits here. Besides it's about a car.

To answer you philiam… No offense my brother but I do not look to Hollywood or Clint Eastwood (though I do enjoy some of his films) to aide me in the definition of my moral compass. I rely on other documents

I will close with this. This is what makes it all worthwhile …. Though we may not agree on how to handle a given situation the ability to speak our opinions as we see them is most certainly based on how we view life through our own eyes. The beauty comes from the fact that just because we do not agree, that does not mean we cannot still respectfully disagree. Or “My rights end at the tip of my nose just as your rights end at the tip of yours” …. Benjamin Franklin.
