Yes and no. If I'm in a new location that I'm not familiar with, I'd switch off the music for 2 reasons: 1) the engine soundtrack, 2) it helps when You actually hear the tires throwing in the towel. I don't race much in places where I don't know what's coming up next, but hypothetically if I would, I'd switche the music off.
BUT, if it's a road I know well and have driven many many many times, the music just sorta helps getting some new emotions from it, sets the mood right.
