Newbie needs Input

Going to test drive a 2007 Black/black coming off lease with 31K miles.

Dealer story is that it was traded by an older gentelman on a BMWZ4.
( I was hoping for the tiny old lady who just took it to church car, but those are rare S2000 I'm sure). Dealer service dwith all records.

Anything I should pay special attention to?

Salesman tossed out $23 - 24.5 ( I've already decided I like $23K better).

Inputs appreciated.

As long as the compression is fine, the tranny shifts smooth, and the car looks in good condition, I would not hesitate to buy it if you think the price is right. The car is just now getting broken in.

Cherry, you need to drive more.

OP, that's about average for a 2 year old car. Sounds like it was a DD by the mileage.

Was it a 3 year lease? They could have gotten it late 06, in which case that is decent mileage for a 3 year old car.

I researched ( Edmund,KBB) and $23k is in line.

BUT- snow will fall here soon and if they want to make any money on this car the next two weeks is key.

I've got a BMW 328XI trade which should be worth more than the S2000, especailly here and now.

My two-cents worth
I bought my cat two years ago, seemed like a fair deal and the car seemed clean etc.
The mechanic I had look at it said the car seemed clean also
This summer the car had major troubles
I took the car to Honda and was shocked to find out that the car was modified (most likley turbo) and put back to stock for sale ( car had 20k when purchased)
It took several hours to find and the clues were that some non stock bolts and clamps were used and then it all fell into place. the bill to get things fixed $1, 700.00

Moral of the story:
Check it out well
If it seems to good run don't walk away

Good luck

I know I got a good deal, but my '07 was 25K a year ago August, with 2400mi. So that sounds a bit steep. Especially with winter coming.

kbb is a good resource for determining a car's intrinsic value. however, the market price is often different. the car is only worth what someone will pay for it. personally, i think it is a little steep and he will have trouble unloading it for that price.

as was mentioned before, we are coming up on winter. this should knock the price down quite a bit.

Good thing about the S2000 is everything is fairly visible that needs to be modified to add a turbo. Which bolts did you find that were not stock?

Drove the S2000 today.

You guys are fans of one hell of a ride.

Loved the sound and pull of the motor and the shifter has got to be one of the best.

Brakes were a little disapointing ( compared to a Porsche) but still good.

I"d love to have one but the car clubs I run with won't let me use it so I may be out of the game.

I'm still in love though...

By car clubs I run with I mean High Performance DE events run by BMWCCA and PCA.

BMWCCA doesn't allow any convertibles ( not even Z3s and Z4S ) and PCA allows Boxsters if the Driver ( with helmet) meets the "broomstick" rule ( ie Under a line from the top of the windshield to the top of the roll hoops).

I've heard there are Orgs that run modified Miatas and S2000s.

I'm sure the S2000 is a hell of a lot of fun on the track. Anybody on this forum that makes the effort to try this will be greatly rewarded ( and addicted).

The BMWCCA chapters here in Upstate NY that I run with don't want to hear about convertibles.

I'm sure you enjoy the S2K "at speed".
