I just slide a pan under and change it from the top. No jack..No nothing.
I just did it last week. Dont even have to get the stock intake outa the way. Done in a jiffy. New Honda filter, crush washer and M1. My cars stock 07.
For some reason nobody does this. I have NO idea why.
If you are lowered then guess you need a jack but I'd just driver her up some 2x6 or something.

NO! The "Easy way" to me is paying my mechanic $20 bucks to do it
That way, I get the chassis fittings greased too. It's all just too cheap & convenient.

Now, if I had a garage and an oil-burning furnace, then maybe I'd do it myself. But it's nice to know that it can be done from up top...Honda really did design this car well!

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

i can't reach the drain plug from the top.

any name brand jack stands (i would say at least 3 ton) and name brand jack. i have to use the scissor jack to raise the front of my car an inch or so before i can slide my floor jack under it. i'm not lowered.

even if you find that you can do the oil from above, it's still worth it to own this equipment. you can't do the trans and diff from above (well maybe the diff without raising it, if your gumby). there's a lot of stuff you can't do without this equipment.

Drain plug from the top is kinda tough.

I actually just changed my oil on thursday and parked in my friends slightly ramped car port. There was just enough room for me to get under and to get the drain pan under. Not too bad!

I might invest in jacks too, though, so I'll check out any suggestions as well.

(3000kg is over 6600 lbs) And you are lifting only one half of the car at a time...

i have 6 ton jack stands. after having a jack fail and almost get crushed, sometimes you want to have excessive overkill.

Agreed...it'll only take about half a second's worth of a car laying on top of you to change your mind about lift overkill. The more the better!

Not that I'm saying that from experience....but I've heard some pretty horrible stories, and I know how heavy 3,000 lbs is (all you gotta do is move about 30 or 40 bags of concrete, and you'll have a new appreciation for how powerful our little 4-bangers are)!

i understand simple math, thank you. as stated above, there is no reason to buy anything less than 3 ton.

If you have a stock S2000 or even one with a fresh air intake AND you have an unmodified stock human body, you can reach the drain plug.
YOU CAN DOO EEET!
Hows come you cant reach it Lone? Something not stock?
BTW I have a full compliment of Jacks, Stands, Ramps, Tools, compressors, welders sand blasters, impact guns, air ratchets and on and on. But for a simple oil change I just reach down and do it. All twice now anyway. The first time I moved the air box forward. The second time I stood there and wondered why I moved the airbox the first time. It's the easiest car to do oil changes on that I ever owned in 40 years. And I did all the changes on all of the cars/ trucks.

H20 - i'm uber jacked and i can't fit my cannons down that puny opening.

j/k. honestly, i can't reach down there. maybe i didn't try hard enough the one time i did try.

i thought about getting the fumimoto oil plug that has a quick release. i'd consider it if i really can reach down there. any thoughts on this, folks? how likely is it to come open if something hits it on the freeway?

50" Pythons Huh. Heh..heh..
Ya dont need no stinking quick thing. It already IS quick. You need a ratchet with a 2 or 4 inch extension. You cant touch it and see it at the same time so it takes a bit of skill. Hell not much though. Still I give it a 3 on the difficulty scale. Maybe a 2 even.
I do like that name..fumimoto..reminds me of fujitsubo..
