The front of the new 2006 is a bit ordinay and not to good looking with that look of a big open mouth.
The other changes like the closed headrest depends on taste i suppose. |

It's very nice that 2006 s2000 will have 8 speakers instead of 4 in 2005 S2000. What took Honda 5 yrs to figure out this easy improvement. I think the new headrest give S2000 little more exotic feeling, but those new wheel design are very bad looking, what do you guys think?

At first glance I thought they were the same wheels as 04-05 but I guess they might be different.
The reason for having a cutout in the headrest, at least in theory, is to make room for the back of your helmet if you're tracking the car. Since most S2000s only make it to the track IN THEORY only, I guess it makes sense for Honda to get rid of this feature. 8 speakers in what was supposed to be a lightweight trackable roadster is going in the wrong direction IMO. It does look like the beginning of the end. |

237? Why?
Maybe I am lost, but why is it now 237 HP? I always thought it was 240? Why the three horse loss? Can anybody fill me in?

Dunno guys. Ain't nothin' earth-shatterin' goin' on here. If we reversed the release sequence of the '05 and the '06 (stay with me here guys) and the '05 style was the one jus' comin' out, well, we'd all be ooohin' n' aaahin' over the changes from the '06 style to the '05 just as much.
Honda's taken in the cuffs, put on a wider collar, changed the buttons n' is wavin' it under our noses goin' "Here guys. You want one of these! You ain't got one of these! There's probably more changes to the brochure than the car. 'Same car. What's all the fuss about? |

The hp is rated using a different system starting this fall. All cars are going to come in slightly lower than before (not that we ever REALLY know what a car is making unless you're going to take the engine out and mount it on a stand... and it better be at sea level).
As I posted on S2ki.com about this, the addition of anti-slip, throttle by wire, more speakers, helmet-less headrests are to appeal to a wider range of buyers. Honda built the S almost too well. What I mean is, I own a MY01 and have absolutely no reason to consider trading it for a new one. It runs like a clock, looks great, performs great etc. So, who is Honda going to sell S2000's to? The die-hard fans already bought one and either moved on to something more upmarket or still have it. Short of a complete redesign which is a costly move in a limited production car such as this, the car needs to be sold to people considering vert 350s and Z4s which are admittedly more luxury than track cars. Hey, at least theyr'e not offering an automatic like the Miata does. |
