New S2K Owner needing advice
What's up guys? I just picked up my latest toy, a 2000 Red S2000 with 1,853 miles on it! I couldn't believe the mileage was that low. Needless to say, I scooped up the "nearly new" car at a used car price. So far, I'm loving this car. It's only being driven on weekends, as my daily driver is another VERY fun car to drive, an '04 EVO VIII that's modded pretty good. Click here to check out my Evo: http://registry.evolutionm.net/viewride.php?vid=3367
I realize that the power won't be the same unless I go F/I on the S2k, which I probably will down the road. For now, I'm looking to make my S2k handle more like my Evo though. Here's what I have in my "shopping cart" at another website for my S2k: Cusco Front and Rear Strut Bars, Cusco Sway Bars, Comptech Lower X brace, and I'm debating between which TEIN Coilovers. Also, I'm stuck in the exhaust debate. I don't want anything to sound whiney or tinny. I'm debating between Amuse Exhaust systems, HKS, or Fujitsobo. For intakes, I was considering Comptech, AEM, or ARC. I'm no Honda expert by any means. Do you guys have any recommendations for these parts that I've listed. I'm probably gonna order the exhaust and all of the mentioned suspension products today. I'm gonna hold off on the intake and on the coilovers until I do more research. Also, on my Evo, and my last car ('01 IS300), intakes will trip the check engine light. Do I need to be aware of this in installing an intake on an S2k? Sorry so wordy for my first post. I just need some input. Thanks in advance guys! Cheers. |

Hi Jdub;
Everybody's got their own take on what to do to personalize the Stewie, and shortly, I'm sure you're going to get more info from some pretty knowledgeable folks on this site. What I will offer is that you get some miles under your belt before you go changing anything. I know I've said it before but it bears repeating: it's like seasoning a good meal before you've even sampled it. And when you do make changes, try to keep them one at a time. This way if one of them doesn't have the desired effect you'll at least know which one it is that's taking away from your smile. Good luck, and like the old knight said . . . |

My advice would be work out what route you are going to go with mods first and then buy accordingly.
If you are going to go F/I, is it going to be turbo or supercharger? You will probably realise when you start looking for parts, that the prices for the s2000 are higher than other more popular cars. It is this reason that I say save your money and do all the mods at once. For example, if you go turbo and get a whole new exhaust custom made made, there probably isn't much point in buying an exhaust now, that you will just throw away in the future. The S2000 is rear wheel drive, and therefore will never handle like an AWD car with active yaw control I don't believe just an intake will trip the CEL in this car. |

You've got a good point with deciding which route to take first....That being said, what do you guys think about the suspension products mentioned in my first post?
The first thing I want to do is improve the suspension on this car. I realize that the RWD S2K will never handle like my AWD EVO (without a lot of $$$ put into handling).....I'm just looking to upgrade the suspension first because after driving an Evo every day, just about any "normal" car doesn't feel as tight as it should. I'm not sure when I'm gonna go F/I. When I do go F/I, I'll probably go supercharger simply because I have a turbo car already, and I like the differences between S/C and T/C. The prices for S2K parts are nothing new. They're actually a little less than I was expecting. The parts for an Evo are pretty pricey, and parts for my last car (IS300) were ridiculous. So, I'm used to getting ripped off with aftermarket car parts. No big deal. Does anyone know of a good site/company to order Spoon or Mugen parts? Thanks for your input, and I'll keep people posted. |

Try here also for some of the more popular lower braces and also color coded air intakes that can't cause hydrolock.
