exhaust systems

I'm currently shopping for an upgraded exhaust system, and I'm wondering if I can get some input. I have already looked at the HKS hi power and the invidia sus304 systems. I'm looking for tips with a large diameter. Oh, and of course, max power for the lowest buck. I'm looking to spend between $700 and $1000.

Hello there, well first of all, there is no such thing as best power. Since most ppl beleive the gain on changing the exhaust is almost = 0 power gain. However, u can look for something that weight less.. such as those single pipe ones. second, if u want dual then go for something that is not so huge because this is just my opinion, it looks ugly when the tip diameter is too big. also if u want hks or invidia, prepapre for the loud noise ... or at least spend some more $ to get the silencer ... otherwise i recommend u listen before u purchase

No significant power gains with any of the exhausts. There are claimed gains of up to 10hp but I've never seen them substantiated with real dyno plots. The places that show their dyno numbers show no gains.

A single outlet titanium exhaust could be a significant weight savings upwards of 50lb. These are loud as hell.

I went with a Comptech for the look and the sound; no significant hp increase even SC'd, no significant weight savings (about 10lb lighter than stock). The sound is not too loud, not raspy or farty like a Civic fart can. Nice welds all around, perfect fit.

The invidia and HKS are pretty loud. Take a look at Spugen too, they're a bit less expensive but offer a whole variety of mix and match materials (all Ti, Ti tips only, Ti cans and tips etc etc). http://www.teamspugen.com

The HKS is not that much louder than stock. It has one sick sound though and it looks really nice with the slightly angled cans. Thats why I bought one.

I know what you're going through, finding the right exhaust without being able to hear it is frightening. Especially when you're spending upwards of 700. I can only tell you that I bought my HKS exhaust I received a high quality product and enjoy the sound very much. It does not sound "tin like" or have that "fart pipe" type of sound. Mostly sounds aggresive under 4000 RPM and actually sounds closer to stock above the 5000 RPM but just a bit louder. I did install it with a DC header (cost effective) but let me warn you in advance. The minute you drop the OG unit you will notice the original is already very well designed and free flowing. You will not get better performance but I'm much happier with my S with the new sound.

exhaust

i just got the apexi gt spec like a month ago, its pretty much the least restrictive exhaust u can buy and its real loud, especialy after i hollowed out my cat, didnt know it was metal honey comb when i started lol, the apexi gt spec is a single exhaust with a big can and all steel, u can get it from raceinspired.com for like 509 with no shipping, or on www.hopupracing.com for 579 with shipping, im telling you if you want loud, big tip and the best, buy the apexi
