Road holding in the wet??????
Having recently purchased this great car i was alarmed to say the least when out in some inclement weather the car mysteriously aquaplaned into the central reservation while doing 55-60 miles per hour.having been driving for over 20 yrs and in cars that certainly dont hold the road as well as this one does it was annoying to say the least.I have since heard this is not unusual for this car but something can be done by honda to eradicate this.Does anybody know about this ??????????

Mysteriously aquaplaned? Sorry mb, but driving any car that's new to you in wet weather is a mystery unless you've first done your homework and gotten some good data on it.
There are weather/vehicle/tire combinations that give exceptional performance in the dry. They invariably give less-than-perfect performance in the wet. The tires that are put on the car from the factory are, like most factory applied tires, meant to win your admiration more in the dry than in the wet, but they are capable of both, with cautious application of the go pedal. Wet weather should not surprise anyone in its ability to get things less predictable than dry. Welcome to S2000 101 mb. Your education and progress is graded on a curve. Be well. |

Sorry to hear about your accident
A light weight sport car will always be heavily influenced by the road surface, bumps, holes, standing water, snow, truck tracks etc and that is nothing unusual I have also driven cars of similar power, weight and grip and experienced this, with many cars in these conditions you can keep the revs down low and avoid loosing grip, although this is made difficult by the cars distaste of low revs it should not be too much of a problem. Since picking up my S I have had heaps of fun in the wet I would be very interested to hear what honda have to say if you call them on this. hatters |

This is not uncommon, as stated before the design of the car does play a factor in it's road handling during inclement weather. I will however say that the 05'-06' has a Vehicle Stablity Assist (VSA) that will help maintain traction should any one of the rear break.
There are several videos of the S2 racing on wet tracks. The only modifications made were the tires and adjustments to the coilovers. |
