guys,

i know u prob dont get topgear but thought u might wonna know this:

This year's overall winner is the same as last year's: Honda's S2000 roadster. You don't see many of these on the road but when you do, the driver's always wearing a smug grin, thanks to this sports car's unbeatable combination of screaming performance, rock-solid reliability and built-in individuality.

Again the S2000 shows that a highly tuned car doesn't have to be a headache to live with, even one with an engine capable of wanging right round to 8,900rpm. In fact, the only areas it scores just less than top marks in are practicality and the, at times, scary handling.

Scary handling eh... That's one of the reasons why i don't enjoy the car that much as i used to.
Not that i'm not a capable driver but there are more progressive handling cars at the limit around.

To the front wheel drive, not-enough-power-to-really-matter, automatic transmission mentality that buys cars for the ability to protect crash-dummies . . yeah, I guess it's scary.
Come on guys. We sure's hell didn't spend our money because of it's practicality r' gas economy. Which of us doesn't enjoy gettin' out on the edge a little?
Yeah, it's scary. It's scary if you think you're gonna drive it with the same concentration that you use when you're on your couch operatin' your remote.
It's a machine that, when in operation, requires attention. In that respect I will agree that it actually IS like a bike. (motorized type, one each)
'Ain't nothin' wrong with scary as long as you treat it with respect.
Be well.

I agree with you on a lot of points your saying java and i won't go back from a rear wheel drive to a front or all wheel for that matter but the S2000 or other mostly midengined like a toyota MR can loose the backend very sudden without warning that i was a few times close to having an accident.
There are other RWD cars that are more progressive on the limit and give more feedback and warning to the driver and are because of that more predictable.
I heard a few saying that the s2000 steering wheel felt a bit remote and artificial...

As to it's ability to bite you RC, I can't argue that. Most anything can. But as to the "no warning" angle . . well, I've really gotta, if not argue, at least open it to healthy debate. There's warnin' given. It may not come gift wrapped r' have bells n' whistles, but it's definitely there.
Which brings me to a little info to pass on to all: installed a set of Dunlop Winter Sport M3s a coupla weeks ago. Can't as yet say anything about their abilities in the snow, but considerin' the open air space that used to be occupied by rubber, they seem to do what they're supposed topretty well. The part that should come as no surprise to anybody is that they take the handlin' of my '04 a notch r' two closer to the handlin' of the earlier model Stewies. That "warning" that you're gettin' to the limits of the rear's ability to stay where you put it comes on alot sooner than with the stock tires. Definitely not the shoes to be wearin' when you're gonna lift off the gas in a hard corner . . much like the earlier Stewies.
