oil drain plug

Quote:
new to the S2000 scene, but happy to be here. Does anyone have any info on problems with the oil pan drain plug stripping out? Just bought a '03 and knew that the plug was stripped when I bought the car. Car is under warranty, but it is probably not covered for this problem. Dealer says that the pan needs to be replaced, but i'm wondering if it can be fixed. thanks for any advice

Jus' reachin' here 'dog, but is there enough meat for retappin' it n' Helicoilin' it? Outside'a replacin' the pan that's the only thing I'd consider. I shudder to even suggest it but, strictly as a temporary fix, there's those spreader plugs, but I only mention that as a point of historical reference.
Be well n' good luck.

Java thanks for the comments. I got the dealership that I do business with to pick up the cost of a new pan but I pay the 3 hours labor, not a bad deal. Do you know if the owners manuals are available on line? thanks

'Glad to hear that you've found a satisfactory solution 'dog. N' yeah. That ain't a bad deal all things considered.
I'd hafta say that in my clumsy on-line travels I have yet to see an owner's manual, but that sure don't mean that they ain't out there. (I may spew lotsa words but I'm a real gremmy when it comes to these 'puter contraptions)
Be well, n' may the road ahead be clean n' twisty n' void of all traffic.
