TUNING BY CONVENTIONAL METHODS
That is, not 'charging the engine.
Can the S2000 be improved this way? I was thinking along the lines of; 1) High-flow race-style manifold, full performance exhaust system, including de-cat. 2) Cold air intake system. 3) Re-map. Would that be the limit, or is there anything else and do you think I would get an extra 20bhp this way? |

Don't waste your money!
Don't waste the cash on the intake exhaust upgrades. it's jusyt not worht it in this car unless your running some high boost. besides anything of resonable quality is too expensive for the performace you receive. A guy I worked with spent 3500 dollars between an intake, header, exhaust, and ecu upgrade.. a dyno run later and 11 horsepower to the wheels seems an awful waste.
stick with saving up for some forced induction! |

Some have found negative gains with such modifications.
Let's face it, this engine is about as 'tuned' as you can get from the factory. It's not a Civic. |

What is a 'negative gain' ?
Is it the same as a 'positive loss' ? |

feels makes a 2.3L stroker kit for the 2.0L. Bringing up to about 280hp. Good solid power for the car but you will spend close to 5K for the kit and then you have to pay someone to do the work.

I agree, for that price you could have a sweet turbo system. Toda makes a 2.2L kit for the 2.0L, it is made for a turbo application. The kit runs for close to $6K.
