Engine S2000 doesnt start after accident..
Engine S2000 doesnt start after accident..
Hi all, after I had the accident, (front damage - and right site) and have found like all the parts to repair it.. (mechanical - spings - radiator .. airbags...) I tried to start the engine.. to see if it is turning.. the engine is turning (i hear that it is not blocked) Its like all the electrical parts of my car still work.. roof - windows - lights - alarm with engine start-stop security... But by one or another reason the engine does not turn on.. I tried with start-pilote-gas in the air-filter.. then I hear it is willing to turn on.. but it isnt... Does anyone know a possibliti why the engine wont start? Thx |

Did the airbags went of?
I don't think a car will start if they do, not sure. |

I think the ecu can be reset if you unplug the power for a over night, it should be the airbag control module that needs to be replaced or reset . If I am not wrong that module is below your radio/cd player, if you take the radio out, you can see the yellow thing below !!!

air bags..
the OPDS unit (Occupant Position Detection System) which controls the SRS System (airbags, seatbelts) is a seperate computer and in no way controls the Engine Management Computer (ECU) If the Airbags did deploy and the light is still on you unfortunatly need to replace the OPDS unit. prior to that however you need to replace each of the air bags that went off, any shcok sensor that are in the frame of the car that went off, and finally the computer. The OPDS unit can not be reset once the air bags have gone off. no matter how long you leave it unplugged..
As for the no start... it could be alot of different things... Is the MIL light on? Was there any damage to any of the electrical components? ex: Wiring harness? Ignition system/cables? Fuse box? Not to state the obvious but was the battery left plugged into the car while it was being repaired? that can cause an excessive draw and kill it. but you did say it was trying to turn over so perhaps there is a loos ground somewhere in the starting system.. Was the fuel delivery system damaged in any way. maybe the fuel pump isn't getting any power or something of that nature. Is the emobilzer light flashing on the dash when you try to start it? perhaps the ignition system had some kind of damage when you were in the accident? not that any of these will fix the issue but they are places to start looking. good luck! |
