Swaybar question/information
Hi everyone, just seeing if I can get some of the latest word on autox bars. I'm really planning on getting the newer (new bushings to prevent clunking and deformed endlinks) Saner bar. It's only $199, so I figure even if I get half the performance of the comptech or Gendron I'll have gotten my money's worth. Just to update that thread on autox set-up etc., the Comptech bar is about $670, the gendron is going for $600, and the Saner is $199. All these quotes are w/o shipping included. Although I only hope to get close to the performance of the other bars, I don't see how these bars won't perform almost identically. The Saner is a 1.25" solid bar just like the Gendron. I know the Gendron has stronger blade type arms, but I don't think that the regular 1.25" Saner bar ends are necessarily weak. Of course, both the comptech and Gendron have more adjustments to play with, but honestly, most of us just find a sweet spot and stick with it. I think I'll be totally fine with the three settings the Saner has to offer. The comptech is just funky, but boasts a 178% stiffness over stock, whereas the Saner claims about 150%. Sounds close enough for me. Any input guys?

Hi Sim;
How long you had your Stewie now? I ask because I'd had intentions of cross braces, slightly lower different springs n' sway bars some time back. Now that I've put 10 thou on the car I find that right outa the box is entirely useful for all kindza street contortions involved in severe handling. What I'm gettin' at is that spendin' money on the car's suspension isn't at all necessary. If you drive it beyond the abilities of it's extremely capable stock suspension you'd've already either lost your license or permanently become part of the roadside scenery. Save your money. Unless you're gonna be makin' use of smooth track surfaces autocrossin', the extra expense is both unnecessary and adds components that can detract from your normal use. The car is so much more capable than most of it's owners ever realize, right outa the box. Let's be careful out there, Java. |

I think we have a misunderstanding....
Thanks for the input Passmans but I think we're talking about two different bars here. I'm talkin about the autox swaybar. The one that has like 6 adjustments and claims to be atleast one of the stiffest bars available. It's posted on several sites for no less than $670. I would probably go with the setup you did due to the cost, but I'm trying to stay in the stock catagory as defined by SCCA rules. I can't touch the rear swaybar, springs, etc. So basically, I need the stiffest front bar I can find. Saner's still the winner. I hear they've replace the old end-links for stronger and less noisey versions. I'll be ordering very soon.
