Just test drove a 2006 S2000

I just drove a Red 2006 S2000- Not much to compare it to, its my first s2k Ive ever driven. Just wondering why this car's wheelgap is much larger than the 2005 s2k's wheelgap?! car felt tight, and very powerful

But it seems like Id like to look for an 05 if I were to get one, the wheelgap on the 06 really turns me off....

Any ideas?

That's odd. Any chance the 05 you saw was used and thus had aftermarket coilovers or at least springs? I haven't read anything about suspension changes for 06.

I'm biased, of course, but I'd recommend looking for a used '03 with low miles. This was the last year of the 9,000 rpm F20c engine... IMO the soul of this car.

thats what i thought initially. The salesman turned it on for me and showed me the odometer, 40 miles! Great price on the 05, 28,900. I guess theyre trying to move it. Its blue with blue/black interior. Very sharp car.

I could fit 2, barely 3 in the front gap on the 05, on the 06 i fit 4 fingers easily. Seemed strange. I love the car however. Very jealous of you guys

Id love to get the 03 but im very very adversed to used cars (horrible experiences with cerified used cars, some resulting in law suits and wasted time/money.

Another thought I had, was perhaps the dealer didn't remove those spring spacers they use for shipping, onthe 06 you saw (IOW, the dealer didn't prep the car correctly).

-edit: Hmmm, still I don't think those actually increase the ride height in that they don't stretch the springs, just keep 'em from compressing. Strange.

Thats pretty possible, because if you keep a spring from compressing, it will sit pretty high. These cars were in the back lot with the packaging still on them (plastic on seats and such)

Thanks for the thought, i was kindve scared that they changed some aspect of the suspension, making it higher for some reason. I love the low, raked look of the 05 i saw.

Doesn't sound like they were prepped in that case, so perhaps the spring spacers were indeed still in place.
