Hi There Guys

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum.. Nice to be amoung S2k lovers

I got mine 2 days ago. It's a 03 version, with 16'000 miles !!!

Bit of a change from my last ride ( VW G60, 160 bhp )

It's been fun gettin used to the RWD, 240 bhp of the Honda S2k, even though living in Switzerland is a big let down ( they're damn strickt here )... Ur considered a criminal if u get caught doing 10 miles/h more than the limit in town. At 21 years of age, I decided that lifes to short not to get a car like the S2k ( Dont want any regrets when I'm 40 )

Lets get to the point.. seeing that u guys have more experience.. just a few questions 4 u.

first of all : I see an ESP light on the dash board.. but if I'm not mistakend the 03 version of the S2k has no crap like traction control right ?? If so I cant see any button to disactivate any such restriction.

Next question : aside the 1st to 2nd gear shift problem, any other important stuff I should know not to stuff up the gearbox ???

last question guys : I now got the standard 16 inch rims with the bulky tires on em. And dont like all that space between the rims and the bodywork. Was thinking of 19 or 20inch rims, with real slim tires. Buy putting on 20ies, i guess i wouldn't even need a lowered suspension set-up to reduce the space between rims and bodywork. what do u guys advise ?? how would big rims effect road handling ??

Thanks for all your tips guys, apreciate it

Catch u later

Congrats on your new car! In regards to your last question...is looks the only reason for the larger tires? There are too many variables to consider for an accurate statement, but IN GENERAL the larger tires will hurt handling, all other factors remaining equal. The best thing for handling would be to lower the car with a good coilover set or a quality set of lowering springs. Tein is a good choice here. Personally I would go with 16" or 17" tires with good rubber, one of the most important part of handling.

def not 20s that would hurt ur cars handling, i have the stock 17s and i dropped the car 3 inches and it looks amazing, u might wanan get some 17s, or even 18 are ok, and no there is no kind of traction control until 2006, good luck

Hi Excelsis999,

Congrats on your new toy. If you see the ESP light on your dashboard, then the electronic box that controls the power-steering has failed. You'll find that turning the steering wheel at low speeds and when stationary will be very hard. I have had my one blow out and cost over 1000 euros to replace, although Honda gave a 50% gesture towards the cost (to discuss).
Go to your Honda garage and ask them to do a computer diagnostic with their 'valise' expressly made for this: it should verify whether you have a defective control box. Just pray that it's not the steering box as this little baby costs over 4000 euros.
Best of luck,
Dave

Hi Coxy,

that's not a problem, I only see this light for a few seconds turning the ignition key before starting the engine. but then it goes away, along with a few other lights. So it's perfectly normal I guess.

Thanks anyway for the info

Will keep intouch

See ya

Anything over 17 will make the car slower in every way measurable.

Dubs are for ballas rollin' on spinners, not sports cars.

Answered this in another post for you but in essence, you're trying to open the glove box with the valet key which won't open the trunk or glove box. Ask the people you bought the car from for all the keys or go to a Honda dealer and see if they can make you a key.

That's not ESP it's EPS and it stands for Electric Power Steering. If that light stays on, you'll know why if you try to pull out of a parking space. I'd suggest you try to find a set of original manuals for the year you own so you'll know what all those lights mean.

Get the car to a Honda to get the EPS light checked/fixed. The car does not like to run very long with that light on.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

His EPS light goes out after the normal light check when he turns the key on...I think it's operating normally..now if it stayed on after 30 or 40 seconds, it's off to the local Honda dealer.

Ex, you came from transportation street-slug to corner-carvin' roadster n' you're obviously enjoyin' the transition.
Don't go lettin' the deceptive gods of "looks" take your attention away from why you've spent so much'a your hard-earned, n' why you're enjoyin' yourself.
Stewie's fun 'cause'a whut it is, n' how it's appointed. Don't negate that jus' 'cause you think the space between the tires n' the fenders offends your sense'a whut's cool.
Ya wanna decorate? Go put new curtains n' slip covers in your livin' room.
Ya wanna enjoy drivin'? Keep gas in the tank, oil in the pan, proper inflation in the tires n' go out in search'a some corners.
Be well.
