More About Leaky Roofs...

Hi Guys...

I know this topic was already discussed..but, I'm new, so I hope you don't mind if I bring it up again.

I purchased my '03 S2000 in March and I was way happy with it until I washed it and realized it leaked. I went to the Honda dealer and they told me that all convertibles leak. I beg to differ, having owned a Boxter and a BMW convertible in the past and neither car leaked. Then they said "well, this isn't a Porsche, you know, Honda doesn't have a lot of practice with convertibles!!!". I couldn't believe what I heard!! So, anyway, they changed all the weather stripping and adjusted the windows. It's better, but still leaks a bit. Also, the top doesn't go all the way down, I have to manually push it the last few inches. The dealer can't help me with that either.

Other than changing dealers (which I am doing), does anyone have any suggestions? I really love this car!!

Thanks!!!!

Man, I don't know I have herd some wierd ones but that is one of the stupidist things I have herd of any dealer saying. I had a 2001 Boxter S before my 2003 S2000, I think the top operation and seals are better in the Honda than my Porsche was. We have gotten a huge amount of rain this summer in WV and I have had no problem with leaks.

I know you said you didn't want to hear this but I would finde another dealer.

Thanks!!

Thanks for your replies...I agree though, something is wrong..maybe the dealer I went to just didn't sell enough S2000's to know how to fix them!! I talked to a friend who owns a body shop and he said there is an adjustment that they can make to the top, so, I suppose that's the next step!!

Have fun and pray for sunshine!!

Only thing I can add is that when you wash it, you have to do it by hand, no auto car washes or it will leak. The top problem is somethig else all together, that's just wrong.

The Dealer is an idiot...

I have an '03 for a year now and live in South Florida, We have had more rain this summer than in the past 10 years. I had no problems with leaks or closing the top. It is purposely meant to close tight to create the seal. I would go to a new Dealer. . Pretty Bad for a dealer to give that kind of explanation.

Car Wash

I noticed when I took my S2K through one of those "Touch Free" car washes, it leaked like an SOB. But I have hadwashed it and took it to the quarter wash and have had no problems. I am staying away from the touch frees or I will have to invest in a hardtop!!

In that you live in San Diego, take it up to Weeslow Honda in San Clemente...........Their service dept. is better than any others I know of and it is a nice drive for you!!! Suggest you call before you go as they do get busy.
