turbo ? continued "real power"

Well, i am most interested in a turbo conversion for the s2000. i would be happy with about 400 hp at wheels.
i need to get upgraded crank, rods , pistons and cams etc ? i dont mind getting thiss stuff, but i would like to keep the original housing(sump, cam cover , etc. can i do this?
If so, which maker is best? Mugen? hks? (for crank, rods , pistons and cams etc)
and if i do make this power, how reliable will it be? (for road use)
will this shorten the life of the engine? how many k's should the new engine do?
thanks very much

It all depends on how much you really want to spend.

A cheap turbo set-up would be a decompression gasket, low boost turbo, ECU upgrade and intercooler.

A better (more expensive) set-up would be low-compression pistons, upgraded cams, ECU upgrade, intercooler, upgraded fuel pump, bigger fuel injectors, extractors, full exhaust.

On top of this you may need to upgrade your drivetrain, to handle the extra power. For example you may want to get a heavier clutch.

As far as I know you shouldn't need to change sump or cam cover.

Reliability depends on how much money you spend to "do it right the first time" and what sort of boost you are running.

If you go the more expensive set-up, and don't run insane amount of boost, then you engine should last a long time. The problem is that when people stick a turbo on the car they keep winding up the boost and may not pay much attention to fueling issues and tempeartures, which can lead to detonation (kiss your engine goodbye).

The higher the boost the quicker your engine will fall apart (eg seals etc).

Speak to a perfomance workshops that have lots of experience in performing turbo conversions, get a second opion from another. They should be able to explain in great detail, ask if they give any warranty/guarantee on their work.
