Aftermarket stereo...What about the audio controls?
Whats up everyone
Heres my question...if i install an aftermarket stereo, how do i still keep the the audio contols(volume and mute button and all that stuff) still functional? Does honda make any adaptors or does any one else? Any info or suggestions on this topic would be most appreciative. thanks John 06S2K |

it depends on what HU you have but there are several options to keep your dash controls...the most popular one is the Modifry DCI and the other one is the PAC SWIX audio controls...they both offer an IR adapter so they only work with HU's that are remote control ready...however Modifry offers a wired DCI that works better but only works with HU's that have a 3.5 mm jack in the rear of the HU...good luck on your search...

There is another way, but you have to know a little about wiring/electronics. This is how my roommate did his....He has a radio with a remote control. He disassembles the remote, removed the sensor that sends signal to the head unit and wired it to the controls on the left. He mounted the sensor on the center consol and pointed it at the radio. You cant even tell it is there. Sounds like a headache to me, especially since the radio controls on the right are easily accessible. Pretty much a pointless design on Honda's part if you ask me. I put an aftermarket radio in mine and said to hell with the left side.

also as far as i know only a few brand that will work with those 2 devices!! Not every brand will work. So maybe just use your right hand or use your remote control.
