How far can it go?
Hey everyone im new to this forum with a couple questions. I currently own a 1993 RX-7 so im pretty well versed on turbo systems but my question is how much hp can you push out of a s without getting new engine internals, fuel delievery...etc. Also i would love to see some dyno and 1/4 mile times of people that have either of the forced air induction systems. oh one more thing, how much did you spend on your system not including labor as i would be doing it myself. thanks

theres people making 500 550 hp on stock blocks, who knows when they are gonna blow up, and i dont know how u could go turbo and not upgrade the fuel delivery, id say dont go over 400 with stock internals just to play it safe
ps. i also got a 93 rx7, what u do to urs, i got a list that can fill a page for my 7 |

lol i wish i could fill the page but i only got a full 3in exhaust and a fresh engine but im actually looking to sell it cause the gas mileage is so terrible and the car is just flat out trouble prone. Also what do you have done to your s? i cant imagine you havnt hopped it up when you have that hot 7

A basic way to go would be a Comptech or Vortech SC. But, even a bolt-on SC has at least a higher capacity fuel pump and FPR so 'fuel delivery' is changed. If you push more air, you gotta add fuel or else you're just running lean and then BOOM.
A basic SC kit is anywhere form 2500 bucks used (lowest I've seen) to $5-6K new. It will get you 275 to 300whp, depending on the dyno and conditions around 108 traps. Quarter times in the 13.3 range. The performance is in the ballpark of an E46 M3. |

thanks for the reply. yeah fuel pumps are no big deal but injectors can get expensive and also its not like i would slap a sc or turbo on there without a piggyback of some sort. Also are you sure about those times? My 7 has maybe 270 hp and is running 13.3s and also it weighs about 2800lbs.

270 whp is in the range of a bolt-on SC setup. Some have reported more, but again this is dyno dependent. Also that hp is for an instant just before redline, there is virtually no improvement below 5,000 rpm, so I'm guessing your 7 will feel faster.
So 13.3 is a reasonable estimate. |
