WHAT WOULD YOU WISH THE NEXT S2000 TO BE LIKE???
Sup peoplez, I'm an auto design student dying to find out about the S2000 from the owners' perspective. I'm dreaming up the future S2000 and I'm all ears about what YOU think will help improve on the current car, especially the interior and practicality side. For example:
1. any major overall problems/inconvienences with your s2000 2. how is the interior space? too cramped? please note your approx. stature 3. your opinion on the storage space/compartments 4. problems with the top 5. problems with enter/exiting car 6. safety/comfort 7. fuel efficiency Any comments/topics will surely be benificial. Your opinion will be taken into deep consideration when designing this future s2000. I appreciate your help!!!lets DREAM! -hz |

To be honest, I have no complaints about the interior. Some heated seats might be nice, but other than that, I like everything the way it is. Really, the only thing I have added to the interior is S-Pods and Honda came out with their own version a couple years back.
Now suspension and under the hood, that's another story. If you want input on that, I can give a few suggestions.

It's already on the outer fringes of too warm n' cuddly. Other than some serious low-end 'nads it doesn't need nuthin'.
Be well. |

i know im gonan get flamed for this bc it would throw off the 50 50 weight distrubution but a v 6 or i6 vtec engine would be sick, a foldable hardtop would be amazing also

I'd go in the completely opposite direction. Lighter, simpler and less GT like. There are already plenty of overweight convertibles with good torque, more displacement and lots of gadgets (Z4, 350Z come to mind). If you want a retractable hardtop, there's a Pontiac or Lexus dealer down the road. I say more carbon fiber, aluminum, composite and titanium components. Lighter weight wheels, upgraded brakes. But, keep the compact I4 and ultra-smooth tranny where it is. Updating the valvetrain to i-VTEC would be a nice change if it doesn't sacrifice space or weight. I'd be willing to accept side airbags and a dual stage passenger bag if they didn't add a ton more weight.
In other words, make it more Elise like but with Honda reliability and price. I don't want the car to have mass apeal, but my goal isn't to sell cars, it's to have a unique product that appeals to a very select demographic that likes to DRIVE cars. Definitely keep the current simple product line. There should be no separate TypeR-specV-Track version or any of that nonesense. Every car that rolls off the line should be the Track version. When you see another one, you want to be able to nod knowingly that it's the same car. Design-wise, it should remain an adult car. No stupid wing, no holes or ducts that don't go anywhere, no decals that say DOHC VTEC or any of that ricer crap. In fact if Honda wanted to stay with just a "H" emblem that would be perfect. If it has a hoodscoop it better be functional in some way. Roadster styling with the long nose, engine over the front wheels. I personally like the 'deep' seating position in the S, unlike the Miata or Z4 where the doors are a bit below your armpits. Could do with less wheelgap, but not at the expense of less suspension travel. Could lose the fake dual exhausts (it is an I4 after all with only a single manifold), but I could live with them if they went Ti for some weight saving. A single exhaust that exits in the center (Boxster style) still has the nice symmetry of a dual without he fake styling. Dual HID (low and high beam), full LED tails (turns, backup lights too) to bring lighting up to date. Definitely keep the F1 style instrument cluster, it is a major space saver and I love hearing losers that have never driven an S2000 'complain' that a digital dash is so 80s |

Lessee now . . . 4 of 'em results in 240 horses, so 5 of 'em . . should bring things up to a nice round 300 horse r' so. 'Might even yield a little bit of bottom end in the process. Another pot shouldn't be too hard to shoehorn in under that long hood and likely wouldn't be much of a problem to deal with CG-wize.
But PLEASE! No electric tonneaus, no back massagin' seats, no Skyliner hardtops in the trunk (trunk? Stewie's got a trunk?), no extending steps that help you down to the ground when the door is opened, no latte brewin' system in the glove box (glove box? Stewie's got a glove box?), no self-cleanin' ovens ad nauseum. Remember why we were drawn to the thing in the first place. It wasn't because we thought it'd be a swell way to transport our worldly goods r' because we were drawn by the thought of a road-goin' version of our livin' room sofas complete with foot massage. Lose track of what tempted you to it in the first place and you kill it and every opportunity that you could've had to enjoy what first tempted you. Focus people. |

Setting aside how much price increase there would be...( remember that the price of the the S2 is one of the fun factors for the performance you receive.) a couple of items come to mind. First I think a turbo (or a supercharger for bottom end) would be in line for a little extra oomph! A nice grill insert would be nice. The dealer including the factory hardtop when purchasing the car would be good. Oh and a little more throaty exaust tone although the midrange growl the S2 makes now is awfully nice.
Aww Heck, I just remembered, if you turn off the ATC and VSC it is all you'll ever need. I love my S2 just the way it is. Even being six foot tall the ergos are good and it fits me like a glove. |

Swiss;
For the cheap seats, what's a F1 2.4 V8 translate into HP-wize? F1 as in the race class Formula 1? |

I still like it with the exact '06 body...but I have a complain with the engine performance...I would like it to be a noisy 9000 rpm again with that 162 lb-ft. torque, then the vtec kicks in at 5000 rpm for a long all the way 4000 rpm travel to that 9K rpm for a long rocket feeling...hehehehe...

Stratospheric redline serves no purpose unless it's where the ponies and the torque are.
Redlines come n' go. Ponies n' the torque are what ultimately keep our interest. Correction: Ponies, torque n' reliability. Unless it's a dyno-queen, all the ponies n' torque in the world don't mean doo-doo if it ain't gonna get you to the finish line r' the jobsite n' back. |
