exhaust tips [list=]illegal? yet it was sold like that...[/l

my sister got an exhaust tip ages ago, and now we have been pulled over, and said that it was illegal. its on a subaru

. its a tip with a uv light around it, and it comes like that. it looks nice as but she has had to plug out the light because its apparently against australian road rules (for melb anyway) but i was really hoping i could get 2 for my s2k (when i get one). that really sucks. like how can they be for sale, yet they are illegal? anyway, at least all other uv around the car is alright, as long as you dont put them anywhere on the back. okay okay, many of you will probably think this is sad, uvs and having a hissy fit over them, but i think they look crazy. so anyway, i wanna ask...is it illegal to have uv's on the back of your car where you are??? america/aust...whatever, i just wanna know why its so tight ass where i am...thx

You are only permitted to have red lights facing the rear and white facing the front- something like that.

And yes they can sell the car like that, because you can always use those lights when not on a public road, or when stationary (eg car is in a car show). Same goes for those under car light (fast and furious style).
