S2K weight limit?

I was reading thru my owners manual the other day and came upon a interesting bit of information. "The maximum weight limit a S2000 can carry is 400 lbs.". It even states it on the door panel. This is passengers and luggage combined.
I'm not saying to use the S2K as a pickup by any means but two grown adults (especially older ones) an overnight bag and a couple bottles of wine can well be above the limit stated.
Has anyone had any problems by overloading a S2K?

It's possible that with the baggage we managed to stuff in the trunk that we got it a bit over that 400 limit, but as we weren't runnin' a gymkhana with it, but coverin' distance to our destination, the extra weight wasn't noticed as any sort of problem.
I would imagine that the limit is there for optimum handling at the outer edges of Stewie's abilities.
The final approach to where we were headin' had this sweet stretch of twisty for about the last 2 miles or so climbin' a bit of a mountain. By no means did we run it 'nads out, but we did push it kind'a hard.
So, if we were overtaxin' Stewies abilities, you wouldn't'a known it by us.
Be well.
